A lifesaving journey for Carson the Cat

The Nevada Humane Society is seeking fundraising help for Carson the cat.

Carson was found in Carson City on the side of the road. Nevada Humane Society Animal Control Officers found him and brought him immediately to Carson Tahoe Vet to stabilize him. The next morning, he was transferred to Nevada Humane Society in Reno, which features a clinic and veterinary team. After a variety of tests, radiographs and exams, it was determined Carson had a broken jaw, bruising and scrapes throughout his body, and not one, but two broken front legs. His radiographs showed such severe breaks in both legs an appointment with a specialist was inevitable.

His first surgery took place at the Nevada Humane Society clinic, where his jaw was wired so it could heal. Next, an appointment at Sierra Veterinary Specialists, a local team who performs exceptional veterinary specialty care, including soft tissue, oncologic and orthopedic surgery.

“Carson, at first glance, is beyond adorable. He’s young, only about two, and buff in color. His acceptance of people is off the charts and he will always make you smile. His purr is constant, and he kneads his paws every time someone looks at him — even through his pain and medical exams,” said Kimberly Wade, senior manager of communications and events for Nevada Humane Society. “His first surgery went well but Carson has quite the road to recovery, as he will soon face another extensive surgery to fix his front legs with Sierra Veterinary Specialists. His outcome is good, but just like with Donner the puppy, his surgery is going to be expensive.”
