The Nevada Appeal is accepting poems about spring, no more than 100 words in length, through Wednesday, April 6. Email poems to editor@nevadaappeal.com, or fax them to 775-887-2420, or mail them to the Nevada Appeal, 580 Mallory Way, Carson City NV 89701. Poems will be printed on Sunday, April 10.

RSVP, city money can be better spent

So RSVP doesn’t have the $27,000 to fund a fireworks show. Please tell me how a fireworks show promotes the health, safety and well-being of the community and supports the RSVP mission.

This reminds me of the effort to remodel the streets of downtown Carson for $11 million. Just because something might be nice to have doesn’t mean you have to buy it! (Unless you are Sheldon Adelson.)

It appears our elected municipal officials, with the exception of Jim Shirk, and adjunct organizations are a bit too loose with taxpayer and contributor dollars.
