Another flume operation. We were informed last evening that Messrs. Gough, Elliot, Pray and Spooner contemplate the construction of a flume commencing at Clear Lake, near Spooner’s Hotel, and running to Empire. This flume will be 13 miles long and will cost, it is estimated, $20,000,000. Nearly all the stock is already taken.

All sorts. The flat-iron oven in the laundry is a rare spot to bake beans, and Edmund James on behalf of the Trustees has offered the free use of the oven to the pro-Chinese people as a beanery. The polishing machine was started up in the laundry yesterday. It did exquisite work, and you can see your face reflected in the cuffs.

Regarding the rumors of trouble in the Wingfield family, which have been rife for a number of days, according to the San Francisco Examiner, friends of Wingfield say he charges his wife with extravagance. Her friends say if she decides to apply for a divorce, it will be because of his cruelty.

Stating that for many years he has “longed to get back in Nevada,” Charles J. Hasman, who lived in Carson City 62 years ago, was a visitor to the capital city today. Hasman, 71, was married yesterday to Miss Helen A. Ruffe in Gardnerville.

A report of “26 beatniks are running around the lake in the nude” at Pyramid Lake was labeled false and unfounded by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. But residents of the area, northeast of Reno, said it happens every weekend. Following a phone call, two sheriff’s deputies from Reno were dispatched in investigate. They didn’t find any beatniks. “I didn’t believe it anyway,” one deputy said. “Beatniks don’t like to get near water.”

A survivor of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki stood with 15 others Wednesday at the boundary of the Nevada Test Site and called for worldwide nuclear disarmament.
