A brutal murder: The Reese River Reveille relates the following: We learn from Mr. H. B. Blake that a Shoshone Indian killed a Squaw yesterday at a place called Florence, three miles southeast of Canon City, Big Creek, Nev. The savage ruffian charged the poor wretch with having stolen his flour and raised his rifle and deliberately shot her. When our informant left the place, the body of the Squaw laid where it had fallen. These are the cowardly brutes that enlist the liveliest sympathies of the people of the East.

Grand gathering of the clans: There will be a grand gathering of the clans, “Highland and Lowland, far and near,” at Treadway’s Park, Carson, a week from today. On that day, the Caledonian Club of Storey County will hold its 11th annual picnic.
