Two of the simplest yet most profound verses in the Bible are found in chapter one of the Gospel of John. They are verse 1 and verse 14, and say, speaking of Jesus Christ…
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (v.1)
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (v. 14)
These amazing verses proclaim Jesus Christ has always been, since the beginning, with God, and actually is God Himself.
The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Colossians contains some of my favorite and most wonderfully descriptive verses describing Jesus Christ... Please invest a couple minutes and ponder with me the wonders of what’s revealed here.
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body.
He’s the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything.
For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciles everything to Himself. (Colossians 1:15-20)
Pretty amazing, yes? Yes, Jesus is amazing!
