Wayne Lenhares, 71, won two medals from the billiards competition held Wednesday, as a part of the Reno/Tahoe Senior Summer Games.

He competed at the Washoe County Senior Center and received a gold medal for his age group of 70-75. He also earned a silver medal for the tournament overall.

This wasn’t Lenhares’ first time competing in the Senior Games, though. He also won a medal last year for billiards.

Although he’s been playing pool since college, he said table tennis is more of his finesse. Today, the Carson City Senior Center Table Tennis Club will be competing at the Neil Road Recreation Center in Reno.

“I think it’s great to have these kind of opportunities,” he said. “I meet great people through this event and it brings teams closer together.”

Lenhares, now retired, worked for the Carson-Tahoe Medical Center for 27 years as a repository therapist.
