The Popcorn Stand: What to do with the fruit cake?

The editorial staff is slowly getting into the spirit of the holidays around the Nevada Appeal. A few treats have been made, a few decorations have been set out and the holiday plans have been put together.

Of course, we have a want to include you in that, hopefully you will help make our holidays brighter by contributing. Here’s a few things up our sleeves:

We are having a little fun at the expense of fruitcake on our website.

We are asking what you would do if you received a fruitcake as a gift. So far, “eat it” is winning. Surprisingly, “share it” and “re-gift” are near the bottom.

On today’s page A4 is our submission form for Letters to Santa. We ask teachers and parents to have your children and students submit Letters to Santa brought to you by Carson City Pediatric Dentistry. The deadline is Monday, Dec. 19. Letters run in the Nevada Appeal on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Please clearly spell the child’s name to ensure accuracy of the letters. Submissions will be accepted from students kindergarten through fourth grade. Letters to Santa, poems and drawings about Christmas will be accepted, but will not be returned.
