For Carson City residents, this will be a good week to shake off some of the winter gloom with temperatures expected to rise over the next few days.

Temperatures are expected to reach the high 50s Tuesday and rise to the low 60s Wednesday and Thursday. The days will be warm, but temperatures will drop at night to the upper 20s to low 30s.

Though the weather will be warming up, Carson City may not reach record temperatures. The highest recorded temperature for this week was 76 degrees in 1951.

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Reno said that a strong pressure system off the West Coast will block any storm systems from the area and push it to South Alaska. This will allow inversions to set up, which could impact air quality and allow pollution to settle lower than usual.
