The Lincoln celebration. Notwithstanding the threatening signs of the air and sky, which were apparent on this Sunday, though not so serene and calm a day as might have been wished, there was nevertheless a season of more sunshine than cloud, and during the daylight no rain fell to interrupt or dampen the ardor of the proceedings. The first Militia General accompanied by his staff met at the Warm Springs Hotel. From there they went to the city.

The destructive coyote. Farmers down in Mason Valley, especially those who own bands of sheep, say the crop of coyotes is very prolific this year, and the coyote is playing the mischief with their sheep. One sheep owner says that out of 100 young lambs, he has only been successful in raising one.

The widespread interest that has attached to the amazing development of the Lincoln Highway in the two years since the idea was started has shown the highway as “the Big Main Street of the Nation.”

Action on the controversial proposal for rent control for Carson City was postponed until the March meeting last night at the regular monthly gathering of the board of directors of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce. Also, a motion was passed by the group to give the “go ahead” for a Carson City travel and publicity folder. Ten thousand copies will be printed.

State Democratic Chairman Warren Monroe of Elko and seven former party chiefs asked Gov. Grant Sawyer today to run for a third term. “During your administration, the state of Nevada has experienced its greatest growth and prosperity in history,” they said in a letter.

30 years ago

Tylenol sales have been banned in stores across the United States following one death blamed on poisoned capsules.
