Local man honored with Glaser award

Jeff Mulvihill Jr., owner of instaimage Photography in Northern Nevada and Doc Wenzel’s Old Time Portraits in Monterey, Calif., received the Martin & Bertha Glaser Memorial Award at the Antique and Amusement Photographers International Convention & Trade Show Feb. 3 in Las Vegas.

The award, presented by AAPI President Derrick Gillikin, is the highest honor presented by the Antique & Amusement Photographers International Association, a professional group for photographers. The award is bestowed annually to a member who has given years of service to the association and the old time photo industry.

Mulvihill has been an AAPI member since 2004, serving on various committees and the Board of Directors. He served as the treasurer of AAPI Board Directors and Chair of Communications. He helped revamp the association’s website and introduced new methods of communicating with members.

Mulvihill has owned and operated instaimage Photography, a sports, portrait and event photography business in Northern Nevada for more than 13 years. He opened Doc Wenzel’s Old Time Portraits studio in Monterey in 2007.

BrightStar Care Agency to open in area

Local health care professionals Steve and Teresa Neff will open BrightStar Care Agency, a business that will provide a range of medical and non-medical care to individuals of all ages, from infants to seniors.

Steve has held several positions in health administration, including serving as president of several award-winning hospitals. His business partner and wife Teresa is a registered nurse with 25 years of acute, inpatient experience.

The Neffs have recruited Kari Barbarigos, an MSN registered nurse, as their director of nursing. Barbarigos’ 16 years of progressively acute experience will allow BrightStar Care of Carson City and Valley to offer care one would receive in an inpatient environment in the comfort of the patient’s home.

Besides offering comprehensive services, the business will also offer education about choosing home care to Carson City residents. Clients also are offered access to its CareTogether Program, a free, private, online caregiving resource.

Vintage video game store to open

Miss the days of Pac Man Fever, Spaced Invaders and even the very first video game, Pong? Now there’s going to be a store in Carson City to meet your needs.

Retro Replay will open at 200 E. Washington Street, with its grand opening to be held March 1. Nick Posey is the owner of the store and is bringing vintage video games to Carson.

All old school video games, video game consoles, equipment and accessories will be available at the store. There will also be a place at the store for customers to try out old school systems and play vintage video games.

Used video games and video game systems from the oldest to the newest will be available at the store include systems Atari 2600, Nintendo, Sega, Playstation and XBox. Customers will be able to buy, sell and trade at the store. Shirts and hats will also be sold at the store.
