Saint Mary’s Medical Group has opened a new medical clinic in the North Valleys community. The clinic will offer primary care, urgent care and pediatrics services.
The newly built 8,000 square feet clinic is located across from the Wal-Mart in Stead at 280 Vista Knoll Parkway, Suite 106. The clinic officially opened December 21 to provide more healthcare options to residents of the North Valleys.
“The North Valleys area is pretty medically underserved,” Jamii Uboldi, the marketing director for Saint Mary’s, said. “Those patients have to travel to Reno or Sparks to get heath care and urgent care.”
Dr. Devangi Desai and nurse practitioner Katie Sullivan, APRN, along with seven other employees, run the clinic. Dr. Desai specializes in internal medicine and pediatrics, which allows her to care for patients that range from newborns to seniors.
“As a community provider, we are pleased to bring healthcare options and improve convenience and access for residents of North Valleys,” Lori Martin, Saint Mary’s Medical Group executive director of clinical operations, said in a press release. “As northern Nevada continues to grow, Saint Mary’s has a responsibility to accommodate the health needs of our community and currently this area does not have robust medical options.”
Saint Mary’s leased the property in 2015 and construction on the new building took approximately 100 days.
The clinic has 15 exam rooms for both primary and urgent care along with two procedure rooms. The urgent care is currently open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The location also plans to offer medical imagining and x-rays in the spring of 2016. The addition of imagining will add more staff to the location.
Saint Mary’s also expanded their northwest clinic with the opening of the Robb Drive Medical Campus in northwest Reno this fall.
The 46,000-square-foot medical center also offers urgent care, pediatrics and primary care along with specialists in dermatology, cardiology, pulmonology and obstetrics/gynecology. The clinic also houses a pharmacy and LabCorp branch.
According to Uboldi, Saint Mary’s does not currently have any plans to open any more medical clinics in 2016 but are instead going to focus on adding more services to their existing clinics and sustaining their clinics and staff.
“We hired a lot of new nurses and practitioners in 2015,” Uboldi said. “Our focus is on sustaining this growth.”
