Work to extend a water line to Clear Creek Golf Course from the county water system will tie up traffic on Jacks Valley Road over the next several months.

Installation of the pipeline is due to be completed by the end of May. Eventually the pipeline will connect the county’s east valley and west valley water systems.

Clear Creek Golf Course owners Clear Creek Partners agreed to construct $2 million in off-site water system improvements with the county reimbursing Clear Creek $1 million to build the pipeline along Jacks Valley Road.

Douglas County Water Utility Superintendent Tim DeTurk told the Genoa Town Board work should be completed by May 31.

He said five miles of pipeline will be installed along Jacks Valley Road.

Workers will be trenching and installing pipe Monday through Thursday. He said one lane of Jacks Valley Road could be closed near where work is being conducted.

According to the county, 14-inch water main will be installed between the Jacks Valley water tank across from Jacks Valley Elementary School to Bavarian Drive in Alpine View.

From there pipeline will climb to a tank above the Clear Creek development.

Pipeline will also be extended south along Jacks Valley Road to the James Canyon water tank above Genoa Lakes Golf Resort.

Repair work on Jacks Valley Road from the elementary school to Alpine View is scheduled to occur after the pipeline is installed.

The project, located on the Schneider Ranch, has been in the works since November 2003. County commissioners approved a subdivision consisting of 221 one-acre lots and 155 8,000-square-foot lots.

Residents of Alpine View sued in a case that went to the Nevada Supreme Court, which confirmed the project approval in 2006.

In 2011, the project was subject to a foreclosure sale.

The project’s first 95 units should be recorded by Oct. 31, 2017. The entire project should be recorded around Oct. 31, 2027.
