The Washoe County Medical Society (WCMS) recognized three individuals Saturday, Jan. 23.
Sowjanya Reganti, M.D., was inaugurated as the society’s 110th president during its annual Presidential Ball 2016 Celebration Dinner & Awards Ceremony held at the Peppermill Resort Hotel.
Dr. Reganti is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. She practices with Cancer Care Specialists in Reno. Dr. Reganti received her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) in 2000 from The University of Bangalore, Sri Siddhartha Medical College in Tumkur, India. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., and her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Loyola University, Cardinal Benardin Cancer Center in Maywood, IL.
Jay K. Morgan, M.D., was presented with the WCMS C.H. Woods Award, which is given out each year by the society to a physician who best demonstrates the art of medicine and who has the magic touch when it comes to caring for patients.
Dr. Morgan is a board certified neurosurgeon and practices with Sierra Neurosurgery Group in Reno. He is currently Chief of Neurosurgery at Renown Regional Medical Center.
Joe R. Hollen, M.D., CFP®, received the Presidential Service Award, given to an individual, organization or company who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Dr. Hollen is being recognized for his dedicated service in health care delivery and as an advocate for others to help ensure their financial health.
Dr. Hollen was an emergency physician prior to trading in his lab coat. Today, he is a certified financial planner and the president and founder of Open Window Financial Solutions, Ltd. in Reno.
WCMS is a non-partisan organization that advocates for physicians in Washoe County. The WCMS is affiliated with the Nevada State Medical Association and the American Medical Association working with regulators and elected officials to evaluate the legal and regulatory landscape
In addition, the WCMS provides resources for continuing education and practice management.
