150 Years Ago

Theater. A most attractive performance will take place this evening at the Theater. Mr. A. J. Talbot, “the modern William Tell,” will perform shooting. Jake Wallace, the famous black delineator, will perform some of his laughable characters and Miss Addie Florence will appear before her Carson admirers.

130 Years Ago

All sorts. Empire is said to be under water. The Carson River mills have all started up again. The City Marshall is busy at work on the streets repairing the damage done by the storm.

110 Years Ago

Injured. Joe Sterns and wife, and Miss Barns, were severely injured when they walked into a open ditch near Joe Platt’s residence. Mr. Sterns was badly injured and Miss Barns suffered a severe nervous shock. The accident was caused because of the negligence of the street inspector who failed to place a light near the place.

70 Years Ago

State Draft Officials honored. President Truman presented a Congressional medal to one local board member from each state and territory. Gov. Vail Pittman presented a Congressional medal and certificate of appreciation to each of the local selective service boards and appeal boards in Nevada. Archie Pozzi, well known garage man in Carson City, was the former county representative named to receive the medal and certificate from Gov. Pittman.

50 Years Ago

Births. To Mr. and Mrs. Duke Moss, Dayton, a boy. To Mr. and Mrs. Ray Little, of Carson City, a boy.

20 Years Ago

Possible tax increase. Creating more recreational facilities and trails will cost more money that the city has available. Residents will have an opportunity to voice support or opposition to increased taxes to enable the city to purchase lands for preservation of open space and to create additional parks.
