BLM welcomes new associate district manager

Colleen Dulin has begun a 120-day detail as Bureau of Land Management’s Carson City District associate district manager. She’s currently a supervisory resource management specialist at the Eagle Lake Field Office in Susanville, Calif., and the Northeastern California Assessment Inventory Monitoring program coordinator and field office budget manager.

Dulin began her BLM career in 2003 when she worked as a hydrologist and soils scientist for the Medford District in southern Oregon. She has been involved in wildland fire operations and fire rehabilitation projects. Prior to working for the BLM, she was a crew supervisor and light board operator for numerous national and European tours including Bruce Springsteen and Santana.

Dulin has a degree from the University of Oregon in both environmental science and geography with an emphasis on fluvial and geomorphic processes. When she’s not working, she enjoys mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, golf, and watching the Oregon Ducks.

New executive director of JOIN named

With 10 years of experience with nonprofit organizations, Denise Castle is stepping into the role of executive director of JOIN, Inc., the nonprofit workforce development agency.

Castle previously held the position of regional branch manager for the JOIN office serving Carson City and surrounding areas. She began her career in workforce development eight years ago when she created a grant-funded employment program for Douglas County. She continues to participate in regional collaborations to build a skilled workforce and improve the economic climate of Northern Nevada. Castle maintains an active seat as a board member on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, Manufacturing and Logistics Sector Council, and the Northern Nevada Development Authority.

JOIN, Inc. assists Northern Nevadans to gain or improve the occupational skills necessary to obtain full-time employment at a living wage. It’s funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and Nevadaworks, and has branch offices in Reno, Carson City, Elko, Ely, Fallon, Fernley and Winnemucca.

Topic of business meeting Feb. 17 is LinkedIn

The February eWomenNetwork Reno/Carson/Tahoe Chapter dinner event will focus on ways to crack the LinkedIn code to create a network of prospects and generate business leads.

The event — from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at Hidden Valley Country Club in Reno — will feature Dave Cole, who will talk about the culture of LinkedIn and how to focus on building a network of potential prospects, referral sources and key influencers and how to create a LinkedIn profile that speaks to immediate needs and includes a definitive call to action. Cole, a professional speaker and coach, has developed a step-by-step system to generate leads from the LinkedIn platform.

The cost is $42.50 for eWomenNetwork members, $52.50 for nonmembers and $62.50 for those registering on or after Feb. 15. The evening includes dinner, structured networking and a business expo. No-host wine and beer are available.
