Business briefly: RCM Realty Group opens third location

Last month RCM Realty Group opened a third location where Kyle Wentz is the managing broker.

Wentz, a fourth-generation Northern Nevadan, graduated from UNR in 2005 with a bachelor’s in business management. He served as both a personal and real property appraiser for the Douglas County Assessor’s Office, then went on as executive director of marketing with an international recruiting firm before jumping into real estate full-time in 2014.

Devin Murphy and Alex Seghieri also moved their licenses back to their hometown. Murphy and Seghieri, known as The Seghieri Group, are the sales contact for Cedar Creek (www.CedarCreekNevada.com). Both Murphy and Seghieri are involved in the Carson Valley community, recently starting a campaign to donate a percentage of sales back to the community that raised them.

Kaycee Summers, another Douglas County native, also joined the new location. Born and raised in Minden, Summers is a fifth-generation native of the Carson Valley. Growing up she was involved in dance, St. Gall Catholic Church, Carson Valley Girls Softball Association, Nevada Comets travel ball, Douglas High softball and cheerleading. She played softball at the University of Nevada where she got her degree in speech communications with a business administration minor. She started selling real estate in November 2014. In her first year, she was one of the top agents in her office, completing 20 transactions.

Austin Miller, another Carson Valley native, joined RCM after working for four of the busiest agents at one of the largest real estate firms in town. She has experience working in a high tech, fast-paced environment with knowledge of the escrow process. Miller is working toward becoming a licensed agent.

Wells Fargo giving to OneOrlando fund

Wells Fargo is donating $300,000 to the OneOrlando fund, which was set up by the city of Orlando, Fla., to support the victims and others affected by the June 12 attack at the Pulse nightclub.

The OneOrlando fund will be administered by the Central Florida Foundation, which will guide funds to nonprofits that support the victims and families of the shooting, as well to the LGBTQ, Hispanic, faith, and other affected communities.

Grants awarded for rural tourism promotion

The Nevada Commission on Tourism (NCOT) awarded $895,770 in grants to entities promoting rural Nevada tourism, several of which are in Northern Nevada.

Funded projects include: a $13,625 grant to Backcountry Discovery Routes, whose mission is to establish off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel, to promote the Nevada Backcountry Discovery Route. Funding will help pay for a feature-length documentary,website development and maintenance and advertising. A $4,800 grant was awarded to Indian Territory, an organization promoting tribal tourism throughout Nevada, to refresh the website and related social media accounts for the Stewart Indian School in Carson City. A $10,000 award was given to the Virginia City Tourism Commission to assist with the costs of a national public relations and social media campaign that will include bringing media and social media influences to Virginia City. Funds also would be used to subscribe to a media database and news monitoring service, critical tools for tracking media coverage.

The long-standing Rural Grants Program is directed by NCOT, the advisory agency for the Nevada Division of Tourism, also known as TravelNevada. TravelNevada is part of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (NDTCA).
