Children’s home: An outing at scenic Lake Tahoe occupied youngsters from the children’s home, R. van der Smissen, superintendent reported. The children enjoyed swimming, picnicking and sun bathing on the beach at Zephyr Cove. UFO group: Slightly disappointed that a fleet of flying saucers didn’t congregate over Reno, members of the Amalgamated Flying Saucer Clubs of American departed following a three-day convention. Club President said, “On the night of my arrival I sighted a circular slow-moving object in the sky.” Thirty minutes later a group sighted a similar object over the Reno Airport.

By-pass: Forty-nine people called the Nevada Appeal’s “Your Two Cents Line” to say a highway bypass is the only way to go. Forty callers were heavily in favor of the bypass. The new freeway is estimated at $57 million.
