Crews started filling in the hole on Jacks Valley Road on Wednesday. The road was expected to reopen by 7 p.m.
Jacks Valley Road reopened on Wednesday night after five days of work to excavate and repair a broken water line.
Douglas County Utility Superintendent Tim DeTurk said the waterline repair was done by late Wednesday afternoon. A crew from Colbre Grading and Paving finished the job. .
The boil-water notices for residents in the vicinity of Montaña should be lifted today if bacteriological tests turn up negative.
Paving was also completed on a section of the road between Jacks Valley Elementary School and Alpine View Court on Wednesday. Road work has had the route down to one lane through Alpine View for the past few weeks.
County Road Engineer Jon Erb said Sierra Nevada Construction finished the paving on Wednesday and will start doing the shoulder clean up, utility adjustments and laying out the striping the rest of this week.
“Striping will be done early next week,” Erb said. “The project will finish almost two weeks ahead of schedule.”
