In conjunction with the McFadden Plaza grand opening, the Carson City Information Technology department has partnered with Internet service provider, SkyFiber Internet, to provide public Wi-Fi connectivity called “Battle Born WiFi” to sections of the downtown area. This service will deliver free Wi-Fi connectivity to the Bob McFadden Plaza area with plans to expand throughout the downtown corridor.

“We’ve been working with Carson City for months to get this partnership worked out and the buildout complete,” said Garry Gomes, founder and CEO of SkyFiber, in Reno. “We’re happy to be providing these services for the city and visitors in the area.”

This free public Wi-Fi is provided with the intention that this will improve access to online resources for all individuals within the access areas. The goal is to offer this service throughout the downtown corridor to enhance the available amenities and make online exchanges convenient. Carson City Information Technology department strives to deliver public access areas in Carson City in anticipation of the increasing need for free public Wi-Fi.
