April gaming win down for the state

Washoe County and rural areas are the shining star in the April 2016 gaming revenue report from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, released Thursday.

While the gaming win in Nevada overall decreased by 2.44 percent compared to April 2015, Washoe County enjoyed a 15.47 percent increase for the month, year over year.

The fiscal year to date increased by 3.85 percent in the county.

In dollars, Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $876 million for the month of April 2016. This amounts to a 2.44 percent decrease compared to April 2015. For the fiscal year (July 1, 2015 through April 30, 2016), gaming win increased 0.67 percent.

Washoe County’s gaming win was $66 million for April 2016.

The gaming wins in most regions of the state also declined in April.

The Clark County gaming win was down 3.89 percent in April and up 0.52 percent for the fiscal year.

Carson Valley/ Carson City was down 4.66 percent for the month and up 0.84 percent year to date.

South Tahoe was down 12.48 percent in April and down 3.84 for the fiscal year.

Rural areas fared better than the state overall. Elko County was up 11.56 percent inApril, and a up 2.01 percent for the fiscal year.
