Overnight lane and ramp closures will take place June 6 through June 16 as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces the I-580 Carson City Freeway, U.S. 50 east and Alternate U.S. 395.
Overnight lane and ramp closures will take place on the following routes between approximately 6 p.m. and 4 a.m., resulting in rolling lane closures and reduced work zone speed limits:
June 6-10: Carson City Freeway between the intersection of North Carson Street and U.S. 50 east
June 13-14: U.S. 50 east from the Carson City Freeway intersection to east of Arrowhead Drive
June 15-16: Alternate U.S. 395 between Eastlake Boulevard and Bowers Mansion State Park
At least one lane in each direction will remain open during the overnight construction, and all lanes will be open during daytime hours. The flush seals consist of a top layer of oil to help reseal and rejuvenate the asphalt for longer roadway life. The work is part of NDOT’s proactive pavement preservation program through which state roadway surfaces are preserved and resurfaced before reaching time for more extensive and costly repairs.
Safe work zone driving tips:
Always buckle up.
Pay attention. Normal speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed and people and vehicles may be working near the road.
Always slow to posted work zone speed limits.
Continue to pay attention to work zone signs, even in areas of long-term road work.
