The Department of Motor Vehicles is now offering special license plates for combat veterans who have been awarded the silver star or bronze star for valor.

The license plates were approved by the 2015 Legislature. DMV Director Terri Albertson said the plates also can be issued in versions for medal recipients who are disabled. Those plates also carry the international symbol of access and allow the vehicle to be parked in handicapped parking spots.

The fee for two full size plates is $9 a year. The fee for the single motorcycle plate is $5.
