Nevadans will be coming together March 10 for one day of online giving to organizations across the state.

NevadaGIVES is holding Nevada’s Big Give event, an online giving from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. benefitting registered 501(c)(3) organizations in Nevada. The event is to foster charitable giving by encouraging Nevadans to give where they live.

“NevadaGIVES believes in the power of each person to make a positive difference in our community,” Diana Morgan, NevadaGIVES board president, said. “Nevada’s Big Give celebrates that positive impact and promotes charitable giving by providing an online platform through which to support your favorite non profits or search for new causes. Our goal this year is to reach 7,000 donors with this campaign through further engagement of non profits and public schools.”

For the Carson City Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, the fundraiser will be extremely important and a great way for people to make donations large or small, said chief professional officer for the clubs, Katie Leao.

“The importance of the Club to the community, and the importance of community donations, cannot be overstated,” Leao said. “While attendance at the Club continues to grow, fewer families are able to pay even the $30 annual membership fee. The need is so great for our kids to have a safe place to go after school.”

A Yerington animal shelter is also looking for donations to help it continue helping dogs-at-risk.

The Build A Rescue Kennel (B.A.R.K.) is a private dog rescue facility dedicated to the wellbeing of at risk dogs and wolf dogs, where they rescue, repair, rehabilitate, educate and re-home dogs. Many of the dogs are “unadoptable” and are under socialized or roaming feral dogs with PTSD and other behavioral or health issues.

“Why Donate to Safe haven? Because we appreciate the hard cases!” The company wrote on its Nevada’s Big Give page. “As a small private rescue we provide a force free positive environment for our dogs! Each year we rescue approximately two dozen dogs and average about 18-20 dogs on property with 8-10 dogs in foster homes.”

Other local organizations include the Foodbank of Northern Nevada, WNC Foundation, the Carson City Children’s Museum and the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. For the full list and to donate to a cause, visit https://nvbiggive.razoo.com/giving_events/nv16/home.
