All sorts. The Mound House fire will cost the V&T about $3,500. A number of people are just wild to have another Mikado party here in Carson.

The next rush will be at the Indian Reservation along Walker Lake and River. A particular piece of ground is looked upon as rich in mineral bearing ores. Most of such prospectors have left hurriedly as the Indians have kept the reservation patrolled and the white brother has not been welcome. Probably the biggest enchantment is the fact that the white man is told he cannot go there.

Mining Board. The Nevada Advisory Mining board will meet in Gov. Vail Pittman’s office in the capital building. Members include J. C. Kinnear, McGill; P. A. Gemmill, Pioche; and William Donovan, Silver City.

Photo caption. Lona Ann White, a first year student at Cottey College, Nevada, Mo., was given the privilege of being a delegate of the Ukraine at a model UN General Assembly. Various schools sent representatives to ponder the issues of special political problems after much research had been on the part of the students. Miss White is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. White and has been named to the dean’s list of distinction of scholastic achievement.

Mills Park train. The Parks Commission decided to continue the new locomotive, a steam engine powered by gasoline. “I think our track record has done well and we’re going to continue doing what we have done for the past 15 years,” according to Ron Santee, Vice President Carson City Railroad Association.
Sue Ballew is the daughter of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
