Another burglary — A scoundrel succeeded in entering into E. B. Rail’s hardware store. Finding no money in the drawer and being unable to get into the safe, the rascals contented themselves with stealing pocket-knives and silverware. The town is infested by thieves.

All sorts. Coyotes are playing mischief with Mason Valley sheep. The “Reveille” alludes to a dance as an upheaval of the masses. Elko is so good the town does not have a single preacher in the city limits.

Presbyterian tea. One of those delightful Presbyterian teas will be given in the lecture room of the church the hostesses being Mrs. G. H. Meyers, Mrs. William Anderson, Mrs. Solomon and Mrs. J. H. Wood. The program promises to be a very interesting one and good-natured rivalry existing between the ladies of the society makes the outcome an exciting one. Tea and cake will be served free, and you can contribute to the ladies fund as you please.

Scouts enjoy night hike. Boy Scout troop 33 enjoyed an invigorating hike, followed by a large bonfire. Sponsored by the Rotary Club, members of the troop led by assistant Scout Master Ken Jones passed tests in Scout “pace” and other activities. Those included: Max Carlson, Bob Clements, Frank Evans, Fred Fowler, Bill Furlong.

Venus 3. The unmanned Soviet satellite Venus 3 which crash-landed on the planet had no earth germs. The descending apparatus of Venus 3 was sterilized before the start to destroy all terrestrial micro organisms and to prevent germs from being carried to Venus.

Reenactments by Fremont Elementary School. Historical reenactments by Fremont Elementary School third graders explain the history of Carson City to a standing-room only crowd. Kathy Rothchild said the programs are designed to pique the interest of children in their local history.
