Hohl to reopen Carson City’s Harley-Davidson dealership on March 1

Carson City’s Harley-Davidson dealership reopens March 1 under new but, to Carson residents, familiar ownership.

Renamed Battle Born Harley Davidson, it will be veteran Carson car dealer Michael Hohl’s first venture into the motorcycle business.

Son Matt Hohl said once they explained Nevada’s moto, the folks at Harley-Davidson thought the name was perfect for their image.

He said with spring-like weather already here following one of the best winters in a half dozen years, their timing for opening the dealership “couldn’t be better.”

Hohl said the store will be managed by his brother, Tim, who he said has been a Harley rider for years.

“I’m sure we’re going to get him to get a new one of course,” Matt said Friday afternoon at the dealership.

Hohl said his brother will be backed up by people with solid experience in the motorcycle business.

In addition, Hohl said they are bringing back some of the technicians and other employees who worked for the former owners in the building at the south end of Research Way off of College Parkway. The staff on opening day Tuesday will number about 25. They plan to add more staff as needed.

“Technicians at any of our brands are hard to find,” he said, but vital to the success of the dealership.

He said the dealership will combine some of the Hohl group’s personality with the Harley experience: “We think the blend of both will be very successful.”

There’s no shortage of bikes for customers to choose from. There are about 150 bikes crowding the dealership floor ranging in price from $7,800 to $48,000.

The Hohl group operates not only Carson City’s Honda and Subaru dealerships but the General Motors Dealership and their recreational vehicle business at the north end of Carson Street.

“Between this and the RV’s, we’ve got your fun time covered,” he said.

After a winter in the garage, they are looking forward to servicing a lot of bikes as riders get the itch to hit the road.

In addition to selling and servicing the motorcycles, he said they are planning to rent bikes to qualified riders who want to, for example, rent a bike and ride around Lake Tahoe for the afternoon.

The dealership also includes a store jam packed with, “Harley clothing, accessories, boots, helmets, socks and dog collars,” Hohl said.
