Dick Campagni presented a check for $4,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, which provided Club-branded warm long-sleeve shirts and beanies to Club members at both the Carson City and Carson Valley locations.

“The kids are so proud to wear their Club gear,” Katie Leao, chief professional officer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, said. “Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota and Scion and the Campagni Auto Group are our best community partner. They always are there for our kids.”

Campagni, a long-time donor to the Clubs, is currently offering a dollar to dollar match up to $10,000 in the Campagni Toyota and Scion Community Challenge. The program, independent of the $4,000 donation for the apparel, has raised nearly another $2,000 since it began on Feb. 1. Donors have until April 1 to have their donations matched by Campagni.

“We feel great about giving back to Carson City,” Campagni said. “Carson City’s been good to us. It’s not just a place in our hearts; it’s a relationship we feel with the community. We believe in helping kids, and the Boys & Girls Club is a great way to do that.”

The Clubs are raising funds through the Community Challenge to support its new Teen Center, which opens in June. Leao said the Boys & Girls Clubs have a tremendous impact on area youth.

“In Carson City, 22 percent of our youth fail to graduate from high school on time,” she said. “Through our effective teen programming made possible by community donations, 99 percent of high school age Club members expect to graduate on time, and 65 percent of those teens plan to complete some form of post-secondary education.”

Leao said a donation of $120 provides new sports equipment for the Clubs’ athletic programs; and $240 provides free transportation daily for 50 members daily to the Clubs, while $750 provides free after school tutoring for all Clubs members.

“Many of our members’ families struggle to pay the $30 annual membership fee,” she said. “Our Club depends heavily on community donations, and partners like the Campagni team really make a difference in our kids’ lives.”

Donations can be made by visiting the donor page on the Clubs’ website, http://bgcwn.org/, or by calling the Clubs at (775) 882-8820. Donors must mention the Campagni Toyota and Scion Community Challenge to ensure matching funds.
