NDOT is warning motorists there are going to be periodic lane closures because of the Lakeview Drive on ramp construction project.
The merge lane on to I-580 south is being extended 2,700 feet to the Carson Street off ramp for safety reasons.
The work is part of a series of projects to refurbish the aging roadway surface through Washoe Valley and into Carson City. Seven miles of interstate were repaved last summer. Work is under way on the Bellevue Bridge, which is getting a seismic retrofit in addition to extensive roadbed work. That bridge is currently closed for repairs.
Work is also under way on the Eastlake underpass.
Altogether, the contract is for about $15 million. Q&D Construction is scheduled to complete everything in the fall of this year.
