Nevada State Archivist Jeff Kintop pulls a giant book full of handwritten legislative notes from its slot in the basement of the archives Thursday morning in Carson City.
Nevada’s State Archivist will be honored in May by the Conference of Intermountain Archivists.
Jeff Kintop will receive the organization’s lifetime achievement award at the annual conference May 11 in Ogden, Utah.
The award recognizes career of service and leadership and advanced scholarship in the archival profession.
Kintop is only the second full time archivist Nevada has had since the office was moved from the Secretary of State’s office to Library and Archives. His predecessor, Guy Rocha, was also presented the organization’s lifetime achievement award. Kintop took over the position when Rocha retired.
He has been a member of the Conference, which represents Archivists form Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Arizona and New Mexico, for 32 years. He began working at Nevada’s Archives Division in 1983.
The Archivist collects, catalogs and maintains state government’s historical records and makes them available to the public as well as scholarly researchers.
