Information wanted. Any person knowing the whereabouts of Alfred Ferris, who with his wife left Star City, Nev., in company with Enos and D. W. Munderff, Richard Willis, J. C. Kendall, sometime in February 1865, with the intention to return to the Atlantic States — will confer a great favor, and relieve the anxious solitude of an aged mother, by addressing C. N. Noteware, Carson City, or Mrs. E. H. Ferris, Galesburg, Ill.

Mixed pickles. Polk’s comedy is a very ludicrous play. It derives its singular but decidedly appropriate title from an amusing mixing up of two characters in the play, designed as Pickle. Polk personates both characters of Joseph Pickle who is a worthless cad.

Modern building. The State Bank & Trust Company building is designed to be modern throughout. The plumbers are setting the steam heating plant, and the bank and all the offices will be supplied with steam heat and modern fixtures. A plate glass front is to be put in making the new building up-to-date top to bottom. (Today is the location of City buildings on Carson Street).

70 Years Ago

Carson VFW presents free show. The entertainment will be held in the civic auditorium according to John Nulty, VFW commander. Entertainers will be from Reno nightclubs. Also, 35 youthful Reno entertainers will be on hand to render musical selections. On the local committee of arrangements are Bert Gattin, Ed Chambers, Bud Miller, Bob Clark, Jack Shaughnessy, Clarence Bell, John Bills, Bob Golightly and John Nulty.

Photo caption. Brownies met at the Presbyterian Church for an important event — their “Fly up” by which they became junior girl scouts. With Mrs. Richard L. Dogs dial cops (Salisbury, England). Two dogs called police after ransacking their owner’s home. A patrolman popped by to investigate and as he looked through the letter slot, he saw a mess and presumed a burglary had taken place. The homeowner rushed home, but instead of burglars, she discovered that Rokey and Archie, her two Labrador mixes, had pulled dozens of books off the shelves. They also pulled the phone off the table and dialed 999, the emergency number in Britain.
