Reno’s Rancharrah project opened a new information pavilion

Rancharrah marked the opening of their information pavilion on Nov. 3 as Reno Land Inc. continues to transform the iconic property into 141-acre master planed community.

The 7,000-square-foot information pavilion, located near the front entrance of Rancharrah on Talbot Lane, previously served as John Harrah’s photography studio. The building is now a tribute to Bill Harrah and displays a time line of Rancharrah. The pavilion features a cappuccino bar and patio, fireplace, barbecue and bocci ball court. It will also serve as an information center for the community’s upcoming residential, retail and commercial developments as well as for membership for The Club at Rancharrah.

“So this is ground zero for the history of where is started, where it went and where it is going,” Chip Bowlby, managing partner of Reno Land Inc., said.

The Information Pavilion will be open to the public Thursdays – Sundays between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. starting Saturday, Nov. 5. The pavilion is also open by appointment.

“To have this be able to be open a year after we closed (escrow) is great,” Bowlby said about the information pavilion.

Bowlby closed escrow on the property in October 2015.

Reno Lane Inc. plans to develop more than 600 residential spaces along with a mix of professional office space and commercial space. Thirty percent of the property will be open space and they plan to keep the 52,000-square-foot equestrian center.

According to Bowlby, they plan to begin moving dirt for the backbone infrastructure later this month.

“Usually you buy a piece of property and you rebrand it.” Bowlby said. “There is no rebranding with Rancharrah. It was the brand in 1957 and will be the brand in 2057 and on and on and on.”

In addition to opening the information pavilion, they are beginning to offer memberships to the propriety’s club.

Preliminary membership reservations are now open for 250 members. Individual memberships are $4,5000 and corporate memberships, which give access to four people, are $10,000. Residents of the future residential development will automatically become members of the club.

According to Bowlby, they have already had a fair amount of interest in the memberships.

Members will have access to the 30,000-square-foot former Harrah Mansion. They are working to remodel the mansion to better serve the members of the social club, which will include dining, fitness facilities, pools and tennis courts. They are still in the conceptual phase of the improvements but plan to unveil more detailed plans in December 2016.

John Sather of Swaback Partners, is the architect for this part of the project. Sather has extensive experience and was the architect of the Club at Martis Camp in Lake Tahoe.

“This is a hidden Jewel,” Sather said about Rancharrah. “When you come here you just can’t help but go wow.”

The information pavilion and the club will allow Rancharrah to become more assessable to the public than it has been in the past.

“It is not about some of these older pictures any more,” Sather said pointing to the timeline on the wall of the pavilion. “It is about families, lifestyles, futures and people coming together in a community.”

Bowlby is also currently working on several other projects in northern Nevada. He recently closed escrow on the 46-acre Park Lane property. He is also getting ready to break ground on the Summit Club, a multi-family project in South Reno and plans to break ground on his Meridian 120 project near Boomtown in January.
