On Thursday, Nov. 10, starting at 4:30 p.m., the Marine Corps League Detachment 630 of Carson City will be celebrating its 241st birthday at the Westside Pour House located at the corner of Telegraph and Curry streets.

Founded in 1775, the United States Marine Corps birthday is an extremely important and revered gathering of all Marines, their families and those who respect the Corps to honor their service to our country.

A buffet will be offered to all attending with the traditional cake cutting at approximately 7 p.m.

The public, which includes all Carson City and surrounding area citizens, all military service personnel, widows of the aforementioned and those who love, respect and desire to attend are requested to join us.

This is the sixth year of our Carson City Marine Corps birthday celebration.

It’s definitely a family affair and all citizens are encouraged to bring their children as well as friends.

Please come and join us. We look forward to meeting you and again thank you for your incredible applause and support during the Nevada Day Parade and throughout the year when you see us and donate to our 501c-4 charity at our local Walmarts.

Gary Armstrong is commandant for the Marines of Detachment 630.
