St. Charles Hotel: Mine Host George Tufly of the St. Charles has his hotel in order for the wants, demands and creature comforts of his winter customers. Every part of the hotel has been put in good repair. Tufly is determined to keep up his own reputation as landlord and that of his house as a popular and agreeable hotel.

Bring back that axe: A man called at the Appeal office and wanted a job sawing wood. He said that a couple cords had been ordered, and he wanted to borrow an ax for a few hours to split some wood to earn money. The ax was loaned to him and not seen since. If anyone has this axe, probably pawned for whiskey, please report to this office.

St. Peters Episcopal Church: Reverend H. A. R. Ramsey proffered his resignation as rector of the parish. The vestry decided to accept the resignation. Reverend Ramsey gives his reason for resigning to be that he feels he has fallen into a rut and wishes to accept the editorship of the Progressive West. The Ramseys will continue to live in this city. Mr. Ramsey’s office will be in the Rinckel building.

Beatles plan to break up: Spokesman for the mop-topped singing group said they have no plans to appear together in the near future. John Lennon, 26, has been making a movie in Spain. George Harrison, 23, has grown a mustache and is learning to play the sitar. Ringo Starr, 26, is trying his hand at solo compositions, and Paul McCartney, 24, has grown a mustache and is working on a score for a British film.

War hero: Richard Sorenson, Medal of Honor winner, who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II and saved others, was Grand Marshal of the Nevada Day Parade.
Sue Ballew is the daughter of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
