Thieves about: Mr. George W. Wilson and his wife were away for the evening and while gone were robbed of valuable furs, a gold watch, several silk dresses and considerable money. That same day Mrs. Bingham, a widow lady, was robbed of two silk dresses and other items. Please keep a sharp look-out for thieves!

Secret of Scarlet Fever: English physicians have found that scarlet fever comes from diseased cows and fever germs from milking called “streptococcus.” The cow is the greatest benefit to the human race, but the milk it furnishes communicates the infection of typhus as well as scarlet fever. Fish: C. G. Thomas left for Minden with fish — These are not the ones we term “pretty kettles of fish,” but rather as kettles of pretty fish designed for stock at Alkali Lake.

Mark Twain’s cabin: Reno policy and city engineers have been told to “do everything in their power to preserve and protect” Mark Twain’s cabin and its foundation in Idlewild park. Nevada Native Daughters said that vandals are desecrating the building.

Signal school: Pvt. Jerry McGowan, 19-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McCowan is in Army Signal School for 28 weeks intensive training as an electronics technician. Admission to the Signal School is limited to men of outstanding promise.
