After some extensive research, the Nugget Casino Resort has the tallest reported fresh-cut Christmas tree in the United States this year, towering at 105 feet.
“We are thrilled to dedicate this gigantic Christmas tree to the community,” said Lisa Jansen, Director of Special Events and Entertainment with the Nugget Casino Resort in a press release. “Sparks is a special place to spend time during the holidays and the Nugget and Marnell Family are excited to make the holidays a little brighter for everyone in our area.”
The 2016 Nugget Christmas Tree slightly edges out the 100-foot Americana at Brand’s tree in Glendale, California. The Rockefeller Center tree in New York City stands 94-feet tall. The Fashion Island tree in Newport Beach, California measures at 90 feet. Meanwhile, the trees at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. and the Outlets at Anthem in Phoenix, Arizona are both 80-feet.
The Nugget will celebrate the start of the Christmas season in an extravagant way by lighting its Christmas tree on Saturday, December 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The tree-lighting ceremony will be the official kickoff to the 12 Nuggets of Christmas holiday season of giving event that will run nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from December 3 until December 14.
The 12 Nuggets of Christmas is an event that brings the community together to support 12 different charities over 12 nights. The community will be encouraged to make donations by dropping off gifts and contributions each charity needs under the Nugget Christmas Tree on Victorian Avenue. Each donor will receive a free hot chocolate and Christmas cookie at the event complimentary of the Nugget. Bring the whole family and enjoy singing Christmas carols, hot cocoa, and Engine 39 train rides.
