Mark Twain’s lecture: The California press praises Mark Twain’s lecture as a very great success. It is stated that Mark intends lecturing in Virginia City so soon as he makes his regular tour of the California towns and cities, and when he comes to the sage brush, of course we shall see and hear him in Carson.

The fair: The present State Fair has proven very successful. The attendance has been larger; the exhibits of a high grade and the speed program highly satisfactory.

The rooms of the Democratic Central Committee are now open. They have been fitted up comfortably, chairs and desks provided and the rooms beautifully cramped with American flags. All late papers and periodicals will be on file at all times. Everyone is welcome, so call and make yourself feel at home.

Extensive plans for one of the largest and most representative parades ever held during a Nevada Day celebration were revealed last night by Ellis Folsom, chairman of the American Legion float committee. The parade is expected to be over a mile and a half long.

Three persons died on Nevada highways this weekend, two in separate accidents near Winnemucca Sunday. The death toll for the year moved to 161 compared to 156 at the same time last year.

Twenty people have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Reno with the breakup of what authorities are calling one of the major narcotics operations in the country. “The Company” manufactured and distributed high quality methamphetamines and operated in the Reno, Shasta and San Diego areas.
