Just three months after opening a store in Sparks, Hancock Fabrics has announced April 2 that it will close shop on all 185 stores nationwide.

The closing affects both the new store at Prater and N. McCarran in Sparks and the store on Kietzke and Peckham in Reno. Liquidation sales for its fabric and craft products began Friday and is expected to take several weeks. Great American Group, a liquidator, is handling the closing sale.

The Mississippi-based company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February, its second attempt at reorganizing since the recession.
