Following an inaugural program boasting more than 5,000 submissions, the Reno Instagrammys charitable initiative invites the community to participate in its second annual photo and video competition. New this year is a scholarship to be presented to a promising local art student from an array of marginalized demographics in Northern Nevada during the competition award show later this season.
Photos can be submitted with proper social media attribution using Facebook or Instagram from now until September 1. Rules to qualify each entry are listed on the event’s website. All submissions are judged by a panel of local influencers to decide the final nominees. Finalists are awarded a ticket to the red carpet awards show on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts. The awards show marries influences from the MTV Music Awards and the Grammys to create an evening of light hearted glamour and show stopping performances. Proceeds from the Reno Instagrammys awards show are set to benefit the Holland Project.
