The Sparks City Council approved an amendment Monday to Title 15 of the Sparks Municipal Code that removes the requirement for certificate of qualification for plumbers and electricians in the City of Sparks.
However, Mayor Geno Martini and the City Council did discuss their desire to bring this ordinance back for further review and discussion.
The City has not enforced this requirement for at least 23 years, according to a city staff report. Each construction job in the City is, instead, inspected to international building standards during the course of construction.
