Back-to-school spending at Nevada retailers is projected at $220.8 million this year, compared with $244.7 million a year a year ago when parents apparently splurged on items that their kids can continue to use this year, says the Retail Association of Nevada. Back-to-college spending, meanwhile, is projected at $88 million in Nevada this year compared with $95.3 million a year earlier.
The association says back-to-school shopping begins earlier almost every year, with nearly a quarter of shoppers beginning at least two months before school starts.
