Alissa Sanchez and Troy Hawkins have joined the staff at Comstock Mining of Virginia City, while R. Kenneth ‘Ken’ Joy, Timothy George, and Robert Tracy have been promoted by the company.
Sanchez joined Comstock as director of permitting and compliance.
She has more than 15 years of technical and operational experience, including permit acquisition, compliance and monitoring.
Sanchez earned a bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry from Northland College in Ashland, Wis., and a masters of science degree in atmospheric science with an emphasis in chemistry from University of Nevada, Reno.
Hawkins was named mine superintendent.
Hawkins previously held leadership roles with Allied Nevada Gold and Coeur Rochester and other companies. He has more than 20 years experience in mining, mobile maintenance, and supervision of heavy equipment operations. He also received the 2014 Nevada Mining Association Middle Management Safety Award.
Joy has been promoted to director of mining and mine development.
He has worked for the company since 2012, and previously served as director of strategic project management. He has more than 12 years experience in heavy industrial and civil engineering.
Joy earned a bachelor’s of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.
George was promoted to senior mine engineer.
He has nearly 10 years experience in mine design, modeling and optimization.
Tracy was promoted to mine engineer
He has experience in mine design, both surface and underground, production scheduling and grade control.
George and Tracy earned bachelor’s of science degrees in mining engineering, from the University of Arizona.
