Consolidated Goldfields Corp. of Reno acquired mineral rights in Alberta and Manitoba, Canada, and plans to explore the properties for sand used in hydraulic fracturing of oil wells.
Publicly held Consolidated said it paid $2.75 million in cash and 23.5 million of its common shares, which have been trading at about 1 cent each, to the seller.
