Northern Nevada collegiate winners of the 12th Annual D.W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup business plan competition include:
Undergraduate: First Place, $25,000, TEKTOR; Sierra Nevada College.
Graduate: Second Place, $15,000, MOCCs Technologies; University of Nevada, Reno.
Krysta Bea Jackson from University of Nevada, Reno, as outstanding faculty advisors.
Chaperone by TEKTOR, a safety product targeted to equine facilities, came out on top among undergraduate business plans. SNC Tahoe students Megan McClintock, Lena Stroheker, and Marissa Hushaw developed a plan for an electronic first-responder notification for injured horseback riders, with the goal of expanding to other recreational markets. TEKTOR received a $25,000 cash prize and the opportunity to compete in the Donald W. Reynolds Tri-State Competition (finalists hail from Arkansas, Nevada and Oklahoma) on May 25-26 in Las Vegas.
Warrior Adventure Rapport, the brainchild of SNC Tahoe students Jason Maynez, Nick Galantowicz and Gregory Gonzalez, won the Lt. Governor’s Award, and a $10,000 prize. Their business, an outdoor recreational therapeutic program to treat PTSD, was designed to help veterans of war.
