A partnership between the Reno-Tahoe Open and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada has led to growth in the golf tournament’s Renegades program.
The Reno-Tahoe Open said last week that membership in the Renegades, a support group, stands at 83 — including 23 first-time members — more than five months before the tournament. Last year, the program had 81 members when the tournament began.
A portion of the $1,000 membership fee paid by Renegades members is earmarked for EDAWN. Tournament officials said that’s encouraged new membership. They said early sign-ups also were encouraged by an exclusive event for Renegades to meet PGA golfer John Daly.
