Expansion, housing, grand opening and more

Contractors cited

The following northern Nevada contractors were cited by the Nevada State Contractors Board:

Eric Louis Holman, DBA: Building Innovation, a carpentry and repair contractor based in Reno, had his license revoked for contracting on an inactive license, contracting beyond the scope of the license, failure to provide a homeowner information regarding the board’s Residential Recovery Fund, failure to include the license number or monetary limit on a bid or contract, and failure to establish financial responsibility. Licensee also was fined $2,700, ordered to pay restitution, and assessed investigative costs.

Armor Building Corp., a carpentry contractor based in Carson City, was found in violation for failure to obtain a building permit and contracting beyond the scope of the license. Licensee was fined $500, ordered to pay restitution, and assessed investigative costs. If fines and costs are paid within 120 days, the license will be voluntarily surrendered. If the deadline is not met, the license will be revoked.

Northshore Construction and Roofing, Inc., a roofing) and residential and small commercial contractor based in Incline Village, was found in violation for diversion of funds, failure to pay for materials or services, failure to establish financial responsibility, failure to keep in force a bond or cash deposit, failure to include the license number or monetary limit on a bid or contract, failure to provide a homeowner information regarding the Board’s Residential Recovery Fund, constructing or repairing a mobile home without proper licensure, and failure to respond to a written request by the board. Northshore’s licenses were revoked. Licensee was fined $3,450 and assessed investigative costs.

NNMC certification

Northern Nevada Medical Center was awarded recertification by The Joint Commission in Spine Surgery and Orthopedics: Hip Replacement.

NNMC is the only local hospital to have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval in both spine surgery and in hip replacement.

Certification requirements address three core areas including: Compliance with consensus-based national standards; effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.

New tenant at 777 Center

Eyelash Connection & Mystique Boutique, a personal care service provider, has signed a lease to move into the 777 Center Building in Reno’s Midtown district.

Tenant improvements will begin in June and Eyelash owners plan to be open for the upcoming Midtown Art Walk in late July.

SVN Gold Dust Commercial Associates, the commercial real estate brokerage that handling negotiations with potential tenants interested in 777 Center, indicated only four retail and/or office units remain open, with one of those currently in lease negotiations.

Innotrac renews, expands

Innotrac Corporation, an omnichannel commerce technologies and operations company, renewed their lease of 224,778 square feet of industrial space at 4910 Longley Lane in Reno, and expanded an additional 52,500 square foot at the same location. The space is owned and managed by Bond Commercial Properties.

Dickson housing report

Dickson Realty released it March 2016 housing report. Among the findings were:

There were 1,543 available listings at the end of March 2016, which is an all-time record-low. Our market has hovered just above the 1,500 active listing mark since December 2015, which set the previous record number of 1,547. As buyers outpace sellers, the need for new construction will become increasingly necessary.

The six-month trend of sold properties has fluctuated more than the total number of available listings. There were 559 sold properties for March; an astounding 52.7 percent increase from February. The increase in sold properties is one of the largest monthly increases in recent memory.

March recorded an average of 93 days on market, which was a 19 percent decrease compared to February. While the average for days on market routinely fluctuates throughout the year, the market has stayed around the 100 day mark since about mid-2013.

Shuttleworth moves into Reno Aircenter

Shuttleworth, a company that designs and manufactures exhaust systems, has leased a 24,900 square foot industrial building at Reno Aircenter, located at 4945 Aircenter Circle. The landlord of the building is Global Logistic Properties. Michael Hoeck, Dave Simonsen, Michael Nevis, and Steve Kucera of Kidder Mathews represented the tenant and landlord in this transaction.

Yoga Pod at The Summit

Yoga Pod, a health and wellness studio, will open early this Fall at The Summit shopping mall,

John Reynolds and Joanna O’Neal are the franchise owners of the Reno location, which will be located between Starbucks and DeVons Jewelers.

Yoga Pod will offer its 200-hour, Yoga Alliance certified Seva Teacher Training program for aspiring yoga instructors in the Reno area, through Yoga Pod University.

Early signups for memberships will receive a discounted rate at $99 a month. This membership includes unlimited classes each month, discounted retail and priority check-in.

Miles celebrates 30 years

Miles Construction, a diversified general contractor, design build, design assist and construction management firm based outside of Carson City, is celebrating 30 years in business.

The company was founded in 1986 by two brothers to now employing more than 29 employees.

Miles has completed projects such as Bently World Headquarters in 1999 at 285,000-square-feet, the pre-engineered steel building.

It also completed award-winning projects including Schluter Systems Nevada a 95,000-square-foot training and distribution center, a 200,000 square-foot distribution center for Battery Systems at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and the extensive structural upgrade and renovation of the historic Farmer’s Bank building in Minden. Remaining true to the company’s roots, Miles completed the Carson City Multi-Athletic Center.

Nevada unemployment

Nevada’s unemployment rates in April varied on a month-over-month basis, but decreased year over-year with the statewide unemployment rate remained at 5.8 percent in April.

The rate in the Reno/Sparks area decreased 1.2 percentage points, to 5.4 percent, and is down 0.1 percentage point over-the-month. The Carson City MSA rate is down 0.1 percentage point relative to last month, and declined 0.8 percentage point over-the-year, with an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent.

In April, 10,842 initial claims for unemployment insurance were filed in Nevada, a slight decline from March, and the fewest seen in a month since 2006.

Avison Young transactions

Meadows Partners purchased 1.76 acres of land at 2757 Beck Street, parcel B1, in Reno. John Pinjuv and Bram Buckley of Avison Young | Western Alliance Commercial represented Meadows in the transaction.

Garrett Group, LLC purchased a 4,451-square-foot medical office building at 900 Ryland Street in Reno. Pinjuv represented Garrett Group in the transaction.

An undisclosed buyer purchased an 11,641-square-foot retail investment property at 1090 Kietzke Lane in Reno. Tad Loren of Avison Young represented the seller, Sterling Living Trust.

Papa G’s leased 3,542 square feet at 1560 S. Stanford Way in Sparks. Tad Loren of Avison Young represented the landlord, Acterra LLC in the transaction.

Eden Home Health leased 6,600 square feet of office space at 907 Mountain Street in Carson City. John Pinjuv, Reed Simmons and Bram Buckley of Avison Young represented the landlord, Leviculus in the transaction.

Greater Nevada Mortgage Services leased 7,900 square feet of office space at 10385 Double R Boulevard. Reed Simmons and Bram Buckley of Avison Young represented the landlord, Lakeside CM, LLC in the transaction.

The State of Nevada-Aging & Disability Services leased 12,622 square feet at 9670 Gateway Drive in Reno. Reed Simmons and Bram Buckley of Avison Young represented the landlord, FNT Corp., in the transaction.

Plante DJ, Inc., leased 1,896 square feet of flex space at 1360 Greg Street in Sparks. Matt Harris, Ron Sheehan and Tim Gunsten of Avison Young represented Planet DJ in the transaction.

Military job site

Work For Warriors-Nevada, launched a new Web site, www.workforwarriorsNV.org.

The Web site provides pages that explain services to job candidates and employers, allows candidates to register for the program and National job board, and also provides a page called Hot Jobs, that matches candidates and employees.

Dickson deal

House Advantage, a Nevada LLC leased 2,275 square feet at 225 S. Arlington Avenue in Reno. Zichichi Family Trust is the landlord. Dominic Brunetti and Scott Shanks of Dickson Commercial Group, represented the tenant in the transaction.

CBC transactions

The Reno office of Coldwell Banker Commercial Business Properties completed the following transactions:

An undisclosed buyer purchased 11 acres of land on Moya Boulevard in Reno. The seller, Lear Family Trust, was represented by Kyle Eigenman of Coldwell Banker.

Brandt leased 909 square feet of industrial space at 380 Freeport Boulevard in Sparks. The landlord, 380/390 Freeport LLC, was represented by Kimberly Clark of Coldwell Banker.

Pup and Friends LLC leased 1,233 square feet of retail space at 314 Broadway Boulevard in Reno. Pup and Friends was represented in the transaction by Tim Dayner of Coldwell Banker.

Seyferth leased 2,50 square feet of industrial space at 340 Freeport Boulevard in Sparks. The landlord, The Ribeiro Company, was represented by Kyle Eigenman of Coldwell Banker.

The Mizpah Club

The Mizpah Club, an entertainment center featuring live music, a full bar and cafe, conference facilities, and a video arcade locate in the central Nevada town of Tonopah, will had a grand opening the week of June 24-25.
