Weak geothermal lease auction

The Bureau of Land Management Nevada generated $13,888 during its competitive geothermal lease sale in Reno last week.

Leases were sold on four parcels totaling 3,316 acres in Churchill and Pershing counties.

Three of the parcels were sold to Ormat Nevada Inc. of Reno and one was sold to Colorado-based Presco Energy, LLC.

At the height of the geothermal boom in 2008, the BLM raised $28.2 million in the auction of geothermal leases on 35 parcels totaling more than 105,000 acres.
