Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Silver Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll. The award recognizes the Medical Center’s commitment and success ensuring that stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
To receive the Silver Quality Achievement award, hospitals must achieve 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines-Stroke achievement indicators for at least 12 consecutive months.
To qualify for the Target: Stroke Honor Roll, hospitals must meet quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA, the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic stroke. If given intravenously in the first three hours after the start of stroke symptoms, tPA has been shown to significantly reduce the effects of stroke and lessen the chance of permanent disability.
REMSA
REMSA was honored Monday, June 20 during a reception and award presentation at its headquarters in Reno. The American Heart Association awarded the emergency medical services company the Mission: Lifeline EMS Silver Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience heart attacks. The requirements to achieve the Silver Award were 75 percent compliance in the following core measures.
REMSA’s compliance exceeded that standard in both core measures: 94.7 percent of patients with non-traumatic chest pain, 35 years of age or older, received a pre-hospital 12-Lead ECG and 92.2 percent of STEMI patients treated and transported to a STEMI receiving facility had a total time from first medical contact to device of less than or equal to 90 minutes.
STARTUP COMPETITION
The Governor’s Conference on Business 2016 will include a business pitch competition as part of the conference. A two minute pitch in front of a panel of judges will net two entrepreneurs cash and prizes totaling $22,500.

ELECTRATHERM
ElectraTherm, a leader in distributed, waste heat to power generation, commissioned two Power+ Generators in the United Kingdom. Both sites are located on farms in Bolton and Welshpool.
In addition, ElectraTherm sold Power+ Generators to two new customers in the UK, both farms focused on utilizing biomass power generation. ElectraTherm’s distributor, Scott Heating Co., will be showcasing the Power+ Generator at the Royal Highlands Show, June 23-26 in Edinburgh.

Ulta Beauty opened its doors at their new location Friday, June 24. The new location is at Firecreek Crossing. They also have plans to open a location in Elko this year.

UNEMPLOYMENT
In May, 10,650 initial claims for unemployment insurance were filed in Nevada, which is a 1.8 percent decrease from April and a 2.9 percent decline from May 2015. The 12-month average, which captures the overall trend in claims, declined to 12,091, the lowest it’s been since mid-2007.
Looking forward to the next couple of months, expected seasonal increases are likely to push up the level of initial claims, said Bill Anderson, chief economist for Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
ONSTREAM
Reno-based startup Onstream received global recognition by being named a silver winner in Connect What Matters, an IoT contest hosted by Dell an Intel to recognize data-driven ideas and technology.
Onstream provides building intelligence solutions to commercial, office and industrial spaces, and was awarded by Dell and Intel for its huge success in making nonresidential buildings as safe and secure as possible.
MILES CONSTRUCTION
Miles Construction was awarded the Best Public Use Development Award at the Summit Awards for the Carson City Multi-Purpose Athletic Center.
Miles received three awards from American Buildings Company, a Nucor Company. In 2015 Miles Construction earned top 10 West Division for outstanding sales and achievement; top 25 nationally for outstanding sales and achievement; and, top volume West Division. This is the first time Miles Construction has achieved all three in the same year.
DATARAM CORPORATION
Dataram Corporation, a leading independent manufacturer of memory products and provider of performance solutions has completed its acquisition of certain mining claims related to a gold development project known as the “Keystone Project.”

Care Flight, a program of REMSA, is expanding its emergency medical helicopter service into Plumas County with the opening of its Beckwourth, Calif., base at the Nervino Airport.
REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS
A 32,630-square-foot office building at 9480 Double Diamond Parkway in South Meadows that sold for $4,575,000 to a local buyer.
A multi-tenant building located at 9855 Double R. This 12,661-square-foot building sold for $2,090,000 and was also located in the South Meadows Submarket.
Another sale in South Meadows was the 3,544-square-foot office condo at 9444 Double R Blvd that sold to an investor for $716,683. DCG represented the buyer in this transaction.
A medical office building at 3701 Baker Lane in Central Reno. The 7,000-square-foot building was occupied by two dental practices and sold for $975,000.
A 66,599-square-foot building at 795 Trademark. The building was situated on 4.782 acres of land and also sold with an additional 2.762 acres of land to Prothera Inc for $9,150,000.
A 56,200-square-foot building at 350 Parr Circle that sold for $2,650,000 and a 84,523 square foot building at 980 Packer that sold to Brennan Investment Group for $6,930,000.
The flex building at 8565 Double R sold for $1,230,000 and the 10,732-square-foot building at 901 Meredith in Sparks sold for $1,250,000.
An eight-property portfolio at Legends in Sparks sold to an investment group out of Southern California for $29,800,000. It included seven buildings totaling 97,000 square feet, and a 1.460 acre land parcel. Building tenants included Best Buy, TJ Maxx, Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Jimmy Johns.
Two SNTL buildings sold. One that was leased to Concentra sold for $2,100,000 and was located at 6410 S. Virginia. And the second was a Dollar General Store at 10695 Stead Blvd that sold for $2,225,000.
The Campus Commons shopping center on Wedge Parkway and Mount Rose Highway sold for $5,500,000.
A commercial land sale of 117.760 acres of Industrial land just past Lockwood sold for $7,980,000 and is slated for the new Fedex distribution center.
A small parcel was purchased by Patagonia Inc for $6.89 per square-foot. The 1.75 acre parcel was located adjacent to their facility on Sugarpine Court in West Reno.
A 26 acre parcel in Caughlin Ranch sold for $3,000,000. The site is being developed by HomeCrafters and will feature 43 modern, semi-custom homes on lots approximately one-third of an acre and above.
Rolling Wheel mobile home park at 2945 Kietzke Lane, sold for $3,600,000 and a reported 8.3% cap rate. The park has 66 units.
A 12-unit building at 275 C Street in Sparks sold for $620,000 and a six unit building at 1001 N. Sierra sold for $575,000.
MAY ROOM TAX AND OCCUPANCY
Taxable room revenues for the month total $25,019,110, are above prior year by $827,189 (3.4%). Cash occupied room nights of 307,979 are below prior year by 5,368 (-1.7%). Comp occupied room nights of 85,238 are below prior year by 6,072 (-6.6%), and 28-day occupied room nights of 102,697are above prior year by 206 (0.2%). Total occupied rooms for the month (Cash,Comp, 28-day) of 495,914 are 11,234 (-2.2%) below the prior year.
Overall, Washoe County occupancy percentages of 69.0% for the month are 1.4% below the 70.0% level of the prior year. There were 5,608 (-0.8%) less available rooms for the month compared to the prior year.
Overall cash average rates for the month of $81.24 increased $4.04 (5.2%), compared to $77.20 for the prior year.
Year-to-date cash occupied room nights of 3,344,257 are 106,249 (3.3%) above prior year. Cash average rates year-to-date of $81.33 are $2.45 (3.1%) above the prior year. Year-to-date, total taxable room revenues of $271,997,599 are $16,569,234 (6.5%) above prior year.
