Wendy Merchant

Wendy Merchant has joined Northern Nevada Medical Center as manager of its’ medical surgical unit.

Merchant previously served as national dean of nursing at Carrington College in Sacramento. She has 15 years experience in nursing, including working as a bedside nurse, clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse educator, special projects administrator and program director of nursing. She has been a per diem staff nurse at NNMC’s ER department since July.

Merchant earned her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2000. She earned her master’s of science degree in nursing education and a clinical nurse specialist in older adults from Pacific Lutheran University in 2005.
