Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe continues to invest in mountain experience

In an effort to further enhance the guest experience and allow for expanded early season operations, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe continued to make significant on-mountain investments this summer that included trail improvements and snowmaking upgrades. The resort will also bring back lift ticket and lesson specials, and welcome the return of signature events during the 2016-17 winter season.

Rose is committed to providing skiers and snowboarders with the best early season conditions in Lake Tahoe, and the most open ski trails in the months prior to the Christmas holiday,” said Mike Pierce, director of marketing and sales at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. “We’ve continued to invest in snowmaking upgrades, and have made improvements to our trail network that will allow us to open more terrain even earlier than we have in the past.”

Trail Improvements & Snowmaking Upgrades

Previously requiring significant natural snowfall in order to be constructed from the unload of the Blazing Zephyr 6 chairlift to the upper section of the Northwest Passage trail on the north side of the mountain, the Main Lodge return trail has been graded and contoured into a more productive, functional ski trail. As a result of these improvements and requiring only minimal snowmaking, the Slide Bowl side of the resort is now expected to be accessible much earlier in the season than ever before.

In addition, building on last season’s addition of the nine new Polecat tower mounted snow machines, this year’s snowmaking system upgrades include improved pumping capacity. System improvements will more than double the amount of snow that can be produced, allowing the resort to more efficiently make snow and quickly open even more terrain. Mt. Rose’s projected opening date for the 2016-17 winter season is October 31, 2016, weather and conditions permitting.

Lift Ticket & Lesson Specials

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe will continue to offer significant savings on mid-week, non-holiday lift tickets through ongoing promotions including its popular “Two ‘Fer Tuesdays” (two lift tickets for the price of one), $29 Ladies Day Thursdays, and discounted lift tickets valid any day of the season for active duty military.

The best place for first time skiers and snowboarders to learn, Mt. Rose’s affordable First Timer lesson package includes a two-hour group lesson for ages 11+, rental equipment for the entire day, and a lift ticket accessing beginner terrain for just $124. Other group and private lesson options are also available for those who want to improve or refine their skills.

For those who haven’t yet purchased their 2016-17 season pass, current rates will apply through September 30, 2016. The Premier Pass, valid seven days per week with no blackouts, is available for $479 for adults, $349 for young adults (ages 16-23), and $229 for children (ages 6-15). The Mid-Week Pass is valid Monday through Friday, including holidays for $379, and the My Pass (single mid-week day season pass) is the most value saving option at $249.

Signature & Special Events Return

Recognized for its popular events that both attract a local following and engage visitors, Mt. Rose will welcome the return of signature events including the annual Santa Ski Day (Dec. 10), which tends to warm up participants of the notorious Santa Beer Crawl in Reno. The resort will also host its New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular (Dec. 31), and will welcome “Pink Fest Tahoe” (March 25) and the Tahoe Junior Freeride Series (March 2017). To showcase the region’s expanding local craft beer scene, Mt. Rose will hold a “Local Brewski” this season (date TBD) featuring over 12 local craft breweries.
