Construction continues to progress as the Siena transforms into a Marriott Renaissance Hotel.

Improvements include everything from renovating all 214 rooms, painting the exterior of the building, renovating the 6,200-square-foot ballroom, transforming what was the casino area into a recreational room with bocce ball courts, skee-ball and much more. The Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel will also include a full service restaurant and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space.

Miles Construction is the general contractor on the project.

The Siena Hotel, located at 1 South Lake St. in downtown Reno, has continued to remain open throughout the construction. They currently have 47 rooms available for guests.

“We are definitely still open for business,” Danielle Loberg, catering sales manager of the hotel, said.

According to Loberg, they started construction on the renovations back in February 2016.

Along with up-to date amenities, the hotel will include various décor that will draw from the northern Nevada region. Loberg explained that Renaissance Hotels throughout the world are all different and tend to draw inspiration from the regions where they are located.

The hotel will be a dog-friendly hotel for pets up to 50 pounds.

The Renaissance will join the Whitney Peak Hotel and the newly opened Courtyard by Marriott Reno Downtown/Riverfront as another non-gaming, non-smoking hotel in Reno’s downtown.

Once they get closer to finishing construction they will hire additional staff including servers for the restaurant.

The hotel is slated to open in spring 2017.
